Sudha Murthy, whose full name is Sudha Kulkarni Murthy, is an Indian author, social worker, and philanthropist. Her contribution to literature, social service, and corporate leadership has been significant. She was born on August 19, 1950, in Shiggaon, Karnataka, India.

Education and Early Career:

Sudha Murthy earned her Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics from B.V.B. College of Engineering & Technology in Hubli, Karnataka. She was the only female student in her engineering batch. Subsequently, she pursued a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore.

Professional Life:

 Sudha Murthy became the first engineer woman hired at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Pune, where she worked as a computer scientist. Later, she moved to Mumbai and worked with the Walchand Group of Industries.

Infosys Foundation:

Sudha is associated with Infosys Foundation, a philanthropic arm of Infosys, founded by her husband, N.R. Narayana Murthy. She has led the foundation as its chairperson, and through it, She has been a part of numerous charitable and social initiatives, particularly in the areas of education, healthcare, rural development, and the empowerment of women.

Literary Contributions:

Sudha Murthy is a prolific writer in English and Kannada. She has written multiple books that cover different genres such as children’s literature, novels, and short stories.
